Wildcats blast Charles City, 35-9

The Humboldt football team put together an impressive performance Friday night (Sept. 29) by blasting the Charles City Comets, 35-9 in a Class 3A District 2 game at Charles City. Humboldt moved to 4-2 overall, 2-0 in district play.

Lance Coon rushed for 188 yards and scored three rushing touchdowns for the Wildcats. Mason Van Pelt had a 56-yard receiving touchdown from quarterback Coen Matson. Carson Sleiter intercepted two passes. Corey Dettmann had one.

Humboldt plays at Algona on Oct. 6. Algona lost a 29-28 contest at Clear Lake. Webster City throttled Hampton-Dumont-CAL 35-6 in other district action.
