Wildcats place 8 on Class 3A-2 all-district team

Humboldt, which qualified for the Class 3A state football playoffs for the fourth straight year this past season, had eight players named to the coaches’ post-season all-district team.

Wildcat head coach Derrick Elman released post-season honors on Monday. Elman, in his sixth season guiding the Wildcats, led Humboldt to a 5-5 overall record. The Wildcats were in the running for the district title in District 2 up until the final game of the regular season.

On offense, the Wildcats were represented by junior quarterback Coen Matson, senior running back and senior receiver Corey Dettmann.
Humboldt players selected on defense include senior linebacker Gaige Allen, freshman lineman Broedy Hendricks, junior defensive back Keegan Groat, junior utility player Mason Van Pelt and senior placekicker Nolan Gustafson. Gustafson was named the Special Teams Most Valuable Player.
Honorable mention selections for the Wildcats include sophomore offensive lineman Jack Guy, junior wide receiver Jackson Dodd, senior end Mason Brown, senior linebacker Grant Dieleman, junior defensive lineman Syler Brown and senior defensive back Carson Sleiter.

Humboldt’s entire program will be recognized at the potluck dinner banquet on Sunday, Nov. 12, 6 p.m. at the high school.
