The Humboldt Board of Education gave approval to a public hearing on Dec. 18, to finalize a bid for the football field project. It will take place at 5:30 p.m. (next regular meeting). Bids will be received on Dec. 14. Construction will begin in late April and be completed in early July. The action came at the board's regular monthly meeting on Monday night.
Beck Engineering with several offices in western Iowa, is the company in charge of handling the project for the district. The district approved a contract with Beck back in September for $23,000. The project includes lowering the grade of the crown on the field and moving the center of the crown 12 feet to the east.
Work also includes new drainage installation a, new goal posts and installation new sod. New goal posts will be designed to be aligned with goals for soccer contests.
Total cost of the project is expected to be $200,000. That would include the $23,000 paid to Beck.
