Lakins make a home for Santa and Mrs. Claus

In the movie, “Elf”, Buddy the elf yells “Santa! Oh my God! Santa, here?! I know him! I know him!” Thanks to Santa’s recent relocation from the North Pole to Humboldt, local children can say the same thing.
Chad and Jeni Lakin welcomed the Christmas icon into their home during the 2020 Christmas season and thankfully, Santa and Mrs. Claus have become a permanent fixture there.
According to the Lakins, in 2020 the Humboldt County tree walk which had been at the Methodist Church for many years, was moved to the Dream Carriage Rides building in Dakota City.
The Lakin’s friend, LuAnn Johnson was in charge of the tree walk and wanted to be able to have Santa at the event. She asked the Lakins to help keep the tradition alive for area children, thus starting Chad’s new career.
