Dream of a lifetime allows Duffy to direct local performance

Move over Hugh Jackman, Adam Duffy may be replacing you as the “Greatest Showman” after the choral music performance Monday, Dec. 18 at the Humboldt High School (HHS).
Duffy, who served as the director for the song “Lacrymosa by W.A. Mozart” during Monday’s performance, has always dreamed of being a music teacher. Monday night, he finally got his wish when he led the chorus in the concert.
Duffy began singing in middle school with Choir Director, Michael Blair. While he doesn’t still sing in any group, he is thinking about joining the choir at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. His favorite thing to do however, is to sing karaoke.
“My favorite is “Greatest Showman”. I know all the words to that,” Duffy said.
Duffy wasn’t able to do one of the tunes from the popular musical but instead began working on four different songs with Jen Larson, the para-educator who works with Duffy and Benjamin Chavers, Humboldt Middle School and High School Choir teacher. He finally decided on one he liked the best.
The performance was made possible due to a work experience class at Humboldt High School taught by Special Education instructor DeDe Merris. The class introduces students with significant disabilities to experience different careers in the community.
