Beaman named 2A district Coach of the Year

Chad Beaman, who is in his 21st season leading the Humboldt boys' wrestling program, was recently named Class 2A District Coach of the Year.
Humboldt head boys’ wrestling coach Chad Beaman, who has nearly 500 career dual victories, has been awarded another coaching honor.
Beaman was recently named Class 2A Central District Coach of the Year by the Iowa Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association.
In 21 seasons at Humboldt, Beaman has maintained a Wildcat program that has been a perennial power in the state and this season is no different as Humboldt has compiled a won-loss record of 13-1 and claimed the North Central Conference dual title.
He has a career mark of 467-214-3. In an interview with the Independent, Beaman deflected praise and directed his attention toward the overall support and buy-in from the community and dedicated coaches and wrestlers.
“It’s a nice honor for what the team has been able to accomplish. I’m very proud of our kids and how they compete. Our coaching staff doesn’t get these awards without the kids putting in the time and effort and all that they sacrifice for one another as well as buying into what we have them do,” Beaman said.
“Coach McDaniel (Justin) and coach Cirks (Mark) work their tails off to make this program a success. Our Wildcat youth club coaches deserve a lot of credit as well. They put in a ton of time and effort all for the good of the sport and Humboldt wrestling,” Beaman said. “Each year we get upwards of 120-130 kids experiencing wrestling through our wrestling club and that takes a lot of people working together,” Beaman said.
There are 24 schools in Class 2A’s central district. In Class 1A Jesse Sundell of Ogden won district honors. Matt Wonderlin of Bondurant-Farrar is the 3A district coach of the year.
Central district officials of the year include Sean Thompson and Jim Torvik. Athletic director of the year goes to Ryan Sweeney of Bondurant-Farrar. Kick Hesse of North Polk. Is the Wildcard.
