Ashlynn Works 13th in Drake Relays discus

Humboldt High senior Ashlynn Works placed 13th among 24 entries in the high school discus competition at the annual Drake Relays track and field invitational on Friday, April 26, inside Drake Stadium.
Works had a high throw of 120-3 that came on her second attempt after scratching in the first throw. She threw 97-5 on her third and final try.
Hampton-Dumont-CAL standout Charlee Morton won the event with a toss of 141-2. Mariah Myers of Fort Dodge St. Edmond was seventh at 127-11.
Works will focus on the conference meet this week at Hampton. The state qualifying meet is May 9 at Clear Lake.
