Algona downs Humboldt, 15-5

The Humboldt baseball team suffered their first conference loss of the season Wednesday night (May 29) in a 15-5 setback to Algona on Wildcat Field in Humboldt. The Wildcats are now 4-2 overall, 1-1 in league play. Algona is 2-0 in NCC action.

The Wildcats defeated Hampton-Dumont-CAL, 12-5 on Friday night (May 24) in Humboldt to begin NCC action. Junior right-hander Isaiah Busick earned the win pitching on the mound for the Wildcats as he struck out nine and walked four in 5.2 innings. Chase Hansen threw 1.1 innings of relief.

Humboldt's 12-hit attack was led by Keegan Groat with three hits. Swatting two hits each was Mason Van Pelt, Grant Dieleman and Evan Hatcher. Riley Sorensen, Hatcher, Dieleman and Groat each hit a homer.

Humboldt played in the Remsen St. Mary's tournament on Saturday, May 25, and went 1-1 on the day. Humboldt beat Kingsley-Pierson, 7-3, and lost 6-4 to Remsen St. Mary's.

Humboldt will visit Southeast Valley on May 30. The Wildcats play at Clear Lake on Friday, May 31.
