Humboldt has 8 on all-conference baseball
Humboldt finished 17-9, went 10-4 and 2nd in league
North Central Conference baseball runner-up Humboldt had eight players selected to the coaches’ post-season honors team.
First-team all-conference selections include senior first baseman Evan Hatcher, a unanimous pick, along with junior pitcher Isaiah Busick and senior centerfielder Corey Dettmann.
Wildcats earning second-team honors include junior pitcher Cyler Cirks, junior third baseman Mason Van Pelt, junior outfielder Keegan Groat and senior infielder Riley Sorensen. Coen Matson, a junior who played multiple positions, was a third-team pick.
They helped Humboldt compile an overall record of 17-9, 10-4 and runner-up in the NCC.
Hatcher, who also played catcher, batted .318 with a team-high 28 runs batted in. Hatcher belted three homers, three triples and nine doubles. He was hit by pitch five times. He had just four errors in the field and also pitched two innings.
Dettmann batted .380 with 23 runs batted in. He hit three homers, two triples and 10 doubles. He had 10 stolen bases and committed no errors on defense.
Busick, a hard-throwing righthander, led Humboldt in innings pitch with 45.2. He compiled a 6-2 won-loss record and finished with 69 strikeouts, 20 walks and an earned run average of 3.37. At the plate Busick batted .464 with 18 runs batted in. He swatted three homers, two triples and six doubles.
