Liguria Foods in Humboldt continues to leave its mark on the community and the food industry throughout the United States. Last week the company recognized the Humboldt plant’s 50th anniversary with a big tent meal for employees and community leaders on Aug. 6.

Liguria Foods and CTI Foods are owned by Chef Holdings Inc., based out of Southlake, TX. CEO Terence O’Brien and the company board of directors arrived in Humboldt last week to take part in the special event.

“I’m so proud of this local team here and the fact that they make the most premium pepperoni in the country, right here in Humboldt. I’m also proud of what they do for the community in sponsoring little league, the county fair and different events locally,” “O’Brien said.

“I’m also proud that they partner with our union partners so well, too. Offering competitive wages and benefits to draw and retain a good workforce. This is an example of a team that’s doing it right. I couldn’t be more proud of this event we are holding today,” O’Brien said.

CTI Foods acquired Liguria Foods in 2016 and expanded the plant and added more employees and increased production. The plant’s ownership has changed hands four times in the last 50 years.

“Each different generation of ownership has added to the success of Liguria Foods. They’ve added new capabilities and new products. Under our current ownership, we’ve been able to expand the plant. We’ve been able to add new packaging and new splicing capabilities,” O’Brien said. “Our customer base represents some of the largest customers not only in the country, but in the world. We’re very proud of that.”

“We’ve got further plans to continue to develop broader and broader product lines and expand Liguria Foods in Humboldt,” O’Brien said

“We are very proud of having the industry’s best quality. We’ve also had virtually no food safety events out of this plant, which in this day and age with meat products, it’s something to be very proud of,” O’Brien said.
