Wildcat girls clinch NCC volleyball title!

The Humboldt volleyball team clinched a share of the North Central Conference championship by turning back the Webster City Lynx in four sets on Monday night (Oct. 7) in the Humboldt gym. The Wildcats fell 27-25 in the first set but came back to win three straight by scores of 28-26, 25-15 and 25-22 to move to 16-8 overall, 6-0 in conference play. The Wildcats can be outright conference champions by beating Fort Dodge St. Edmond in their final match of the regular season on Oct. 17 in the Wildcat gym.
Humboldt will play in the Mason City tournament on Saturday, Oct. 12.
Class 3A regional tournament pairings are out and the Wildcats will play host to Garner-Hayfield/Ventura on Tuesday, Oct. 22, in a first round match at 7 p.m. The winner will face Forest City (15-7) or Clarion-Goldfield-Dows (5-21) in a regional semifinal match at Forest City. The other side of the bracket has Western Christian of Hull (19-11) hosting Estherville-LC (12-16) and Spirit Lake (9-7) hosting Algona (11-8) with the semifinal match hosted by Western Christian. The championship will be played on Oct. 29 and hosted by the highest remaining seeded team if travel distance allows.
