BURN BAN: Humboldt County under burn ban
Humboldt County has joined the 57 Iowa Counties that have been placed under a burn ban. Burn bans are implemented when weather conditions are ripe for fires to start and grow out of control. In Iowa, burn bans are approved by the state fire marshal and implemented by county. The Burn ban will be implemented Oct. 11 at 10:00 a.m. and will be in effect until further notice.
Humboldt County Emergency Management Director Kyle Bissell said, "Due to the extremely high dry conditions, the Humboldt County Fire Chiefs have collectively requested a burn ban to be imposed by the State Fire Marshal. This request was approved quickly and is to implemented on Oct. 11 at 10:00 a.m. and will remain in effect until further notice. This ban includes all outside burning including but not limited to brush, leaves and trash. Any person found burning during this ban my be subject to fines."
