Humboldt girls 3rd, boys 5th in NCC cross country

Humboldt’s girls placed 3rd and the boys were 5th in the team scoring of the North Central Conference cross country meet at Hampton on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
Brynn Malo was third in 20:10, Aubry Fisher sixth in 20:41 and Macey Rodgers 22nd in 23:06 to pace the Wildcats, who totaled 83 points. Clear Lake won with 34 points and Iowa Falls-Alden was second with 70. Malo and Fisher earned all-conference honors by placing in the top eight. Humboldt also had Bella Metli 23rd in 23:11, Meg Zweibohmer 29th in 23:56, Elsie Stattelman 33rd in 24:31 and Morgan Mann 35th in 24:34.
Clear Lake also won the boys title. Justin Ash paced Humboldt by placing 16th in 18:20. Jaden Himrod was 20th in 18:45 and Henry Kramer 23rd in 19:04. Isaac Fowler ran 38th in 20:41, Carson Chambers 41st in 21:12, Graham Bakken 45th in 21:40 and Tyler Carlson was 47th in 21:45.
Next action for Humboldt will be the Class 3A state qualifying race at Gilbert on Wednesday, Oct. 23. The top three teams and the top 15 individual placers will advance to the state meet in Fort Dodge on Friday, Nov. 1 at Lakeside Golf Course. The 3A girls' race begins at 10:30 a.m. with the boys to follow.
