Humboldt wins outright North Central Conference volleyball championship!

A 3-0 sweep over Fort Dodge St Edmond Thursday night (Oct. 17) gave the Humboldt High girls' volleyball team the outright North Central Conference title with a perfect 7-0 record! The Wildcat girls won by scores of 25-20, 25-8 and 25-18 to move to 21-9 overall.
Humboldt was co-champions with Algona in 2023, second in 2022 at 6-1 and unbeaten at 7-0 in 2021.
The Wildcats, coached by second-head mentor Ashlyn McKenna, will begin post-season tournament play at home on Tuesday, Oct. 22, when they host Garner-Hayfield/Ventura in a first round regional match. The winner will play Forest City or Clarion-Goldfield-Dows on Oct. 24 in Forest City in a regional semifinal.
The other half of Class 3A Region 2 has top-seeded Western Christian hosting Estherville-Lincoln Central and No. 2 seeded Spirit Lake hosting Algona with the winners playing in a semifinal round match at Western Christian on Oct. 24. The regional championship will be played on Oct. 29 and hosted by the highest-ranked team, if travel distance permits.
