Humboldt girls outlast Lions, fall to Bulldogs

The Humboldt girls' basketball team withstood a strong second half effort by Clear Lake and held on for a 51-49 double overtime victory over the Lions on Friday night, Dec. 20 in Clear Lake. Morgan Mann scored 16 points and Ava Fischer netted 13 to pace the Wildcats, who improved to 3-4 overall, 2-1 in the North Central Conference.

Humboldt also got six points apiece from Ava Newton, Jada VanDeWalle and Kaitlyn Nelson. Paige Nelson had two.

Hampton-Dumont-CAL jumped out to an early lead and never let up en route to a 41-33 victory over Humboldt on Tuesday night, Dec. 17, in the Humboldt gym.

Humboldt was led in scoring by Morgan Mann with 20 points. Ava Fischer added 7.

Humboldt will be off until Saturday, Jan. 4, when they host Mason City in the Wildcat Athletic Center at 3 p.m.
