Wrestlers go 2-0 at Hampton, win Fort Dodge tournament

The Humboldt boys’ wrestling team improved their dual record to 2-1 on the season with a pair of conference wins at Hampton on Thursday night, Dec. 19.

Humboldt whipped Fort Dodge St. Edmond 76-6 and edged Hampton-Dumont-CAL 39-30.

The Wildcats won the team title at the Don Miller Invitational in Fort Dodge on Saturday, Dec. 21. Broedy Hendricks won the 190-pound class and Cyler Cirks was second a 132 to lead the Wildcats, who totaled 217.5 points. Algona had 204.5 and Decorah finished with 170.5. Fort Dodge was fourth at 165.5. A total of 13 schools were on hand.

The rest of Humboldt's lineup saw Sam Knight place third and Dylan Frideres sixth at 113 pounds. Owen Mayall was fourth at 126. Tyce Carken took third at 138, as was Brady Beers at 144. Jaxson Kirchhoff was fifth at 150 and Braden Downs was fifth at 157. Trey Al-Hameed was fourth at 167 and Landon Halverson third at 175. Cael Donahe was fourth at 215 pounds and Ayden Fiengo was seventh at 285. Humboldt was open at 106.

The Wildcats will return to action after the Christmas break when they travel to Osage on Saturday, Jan. 4, for the Osage Duals.
