Wildcat girls upend Riverhawks, 58-47

Ava Fischer scored 21 points and Morgan Mann netted 19 to lead the Humboldt girls' basketball team past the Mason City Riverhawks, 58-47 in a non-conference game in the Humboldt gym on Saturday, Jan. 4.

Fischer sank five 3-point baskets as Humboldt pulled away in the second half to improve their season record to 4-4 overall. Humboldt also had Ava Newton with six points, Paige Nelson with five, Kaitlyn Nelson with four and Meg Zweibohmer with three.

Mason City, 3-4 overall, was led by Brogan Evans and Zaria Falls each with 11 points. Michaela Track and Anna Latham each had nine.

Humboldt returns to action at home on Tuesday, Jan. 4, when they host Fort Dodge St. Edmond in North Central Conference action.

Humboldt travels to Belmond on Thursday Jan. 9, for a non-conference game with the Broncos.

The Wildcats will host Iowa Falls-Alden on Friday, Jan. 10, in NCC action.
