Wildcat girls hold off Iowa Falls-Alden, 58-47

Morgan Mann scored 22 points as the Humboldt girls' basketball team pulled away in the second half for a 58-47 victory over the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets in a girls' North Central Conference game in the Humboldt gym on Friday night, Jan. 10.

The Wildcats also had Ava Newton with nine points. Ava Fischer and Kaitlyn Nelson each had six points while Payton Elman and Paige Nelson each had four. Jada VanDeWalle added three. Meg Zweibohmer and Landry Lash both had two for Humboldt, which improved 6-5 overall, 4-1 in conference play.

Elody England scored 18 points and Brook Handeland made 15 for the visiting Cadets, who slipped to 5-6 and 2-3.

Humboldt returned to action at South Central Calhoun on Tuesday, Jan. 14, and came away with a 64-57 victory over the Titans in non-conference play. Humboldt moved to 7-5 overall on the season.

Algona got the hot hand shooting 3-pointers in the second half en route to a 52-52 victory over Humboldt on Friday, Jan. 17 in Humboldt in conference play. Humboldt moved to 7-6 and 4-2.
