Humboldt boys whip WC, 81-59

Humboldt’s varsity boys basketball team won their ninth straight game in a decisive 81-59 victory over Webster City on Jan. 24 in Humboldt. Mason Van Pelt scored 25 points to lead Humboldt, 10-4 overall, 7-1 in the North Central Conference.

Humboldt won its eighth straight game by beating Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, 65-56 in a non-conference game in Clarion on Jan. 21. Coen Matson scored 21 points and Elliot Carlson and Mason Van Pelt each had 10 for the Wildcats.

Humboldt handed the Fort Dodge Dodgers a 74-60 setback in the Wildcat gym on Jan. 20 in non-conference action. Jackson Flaherty and Elliot Carlson both scored 16 points to lead the Wildcats. Coen Matson had 13 points and Valley Davis 11 for the Wildcats. Fort Dodge, 2-10, was led by Cade Westerhoff's 21 points. Reggie Pederson had 16 and Carter Woodruff 13. The Wildcats also had Mason Van Pelt with nine, Chase Flaherty with seven and Jackson Dodd with three.

The Wildcats won at Hampton on Jan. 28.

Humboldt hosts Clear Lake on Jan. 31 in conference action.
