Bode home engulfed by flames

BODE - A home in rural Bode is being deemed a total loss after being fully engulfed in flames Thursday afternoon. No one was home at the time of the fire on the 1600th block of 140th Street. Bode and Ottosen fire departments were on the scene along with the Humboldt County Sherriff's Department, Humboldt County Emergency Management Director Kyle Bissell, and Midland Power Cooperative.

Bissell said, "This fire was called into the law enforcement center about 1:40 p.m. this afternoon for a house that was completely involved. When firefighters did arrive on scene, they confirmed that and immediately began to fight the blaze, noticing that it was a complete loss by the time they got here."

"After a lengthy search, we finally found the owners of the property and were able to make contact with them, and they arrived on scene. They both confirmed that there was no one inside. However, there was some loss of some family pets." Bissell said.

"American Red Cross is on the way to the scene to help the family out, and this is a total loss for this family, so as much support that we can give them the best."

According to Bissell, there is no information regarding the cause of the fire at this time.

We will continue to update on this situation as it unfolds.
