Humboldt boys advance 4 to state wrestling!

Humboldt advanced four into next week's Class 2A state wrestling tournament after hosting a district tournament in the Humboldt gym on Friday, Feb. 14.

Humboldt's four qualifiers are all district champions. They include Cyler Cirks (31-8 record) at 132 pounds, Tyce Clarken (37-5) at 138, Landon Halverson (42-8) at 175 and Broedy Hendricks (42-3) at 190.

Humboldt also won the team scoring in the district meet with 191 points. West Marshall was second at 189, North Polk third with 176.5, Greene County fourth at 115, Eagle Grove fifth at 109, Perry sixth with 69.5 points, Gilbert seventh at 52.5 and Southeast Valley last at 24.

The individual state tournament will be held Feb. 19-22 inside Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. 2A action will take place at 6 p.m. on each of the first three nights. On Saturday, consolation finals begin at 9 a.m. with the championship at 5:30 p.m.
