ELC sidelines Humboldt girls, 64-27

No. 3 ranked Estherville-Lincoln Central ended Humboldt's season in abrupt fashion, rolling to a 64-27 victory over the Wildcats in a girls' Class 3A Region 6 semifinal round basketball game at Estherville on Feb. 19. ELC, 19-3, will host Hampton-Dumont-CAL (21-2) in a regional final on Saturday, Feb. 22, in Estherville. HDC beat Iowa Falls-Alden, 63-44 in the other semifinal round game in Hampton. Humboldt ends its year with an overall record of 12-11.
Humboldt girls advance in regional opener, 54-48
Humboldt took a double digit lead early on and then had to fight the rest of the way to hold off Garner-Hayfield/Ventura, 54-48 in a girls' Class 3A Region 6 opening round tournament game in the Humboldt on Saturday night, Feb. 15.
Morgan Mann scored 17 points and Ava Fischer had 15 to pace Humboldt, which improved to 12-10 overall. Junior point guard Bella Schisel scored 22 to power the Cardinals, who end their year at 8-14 overall. Sydney Helgeson made nine and Sadie Brittson added eight for GH/V. Humboldt also had Paige Nelson with nine, Jada VanDeWalle five, Ava Newton four and Meg Zweibohmer with two.
