CARROLL N. VIK

Carroll Vik, age 83, of Humboldt, passed away Friday Feb. 14, 2025 at Springvale Independent Living in Humboldt. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt, with burial in Indian Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until service time Thursday at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. Carroll’s services will be Live Streamed on the Lentz Funeral Home website.
Carroll Norris Vik, the son of Nels and Claris (Warland) Vik, was born on Dec. 26, 1941 in Humboldt. He graduated from Humboldt High School in 1960. Carroll served in the Iowa Army National Guard. On May 5, 1967 Carroll was united in marriage with Phyllis (Nelson) Smith in Humboldt. Carroll was a longtime employee at Schuster Manufacturing and the Humboldt County Courthouse.
Carroll was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. He enjoyed working on antique tractors and lawn tractors in his spare time. After retirement, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their activities.
Left to cherish Carroll’s memory are his children, Greg (Cindy) Vik of Humboldt; David (Glenda) Smith of Custer, SD; Gary Smith of Truth or Consequences, NM and Kristen Smith Peltz of Barnard, MO; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Tilford Vik of Houston, TX; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and sisters, Geraldine Kuhn and Doris Kirchhoff.
Services have been entrusted to Lentz Funeral Home of Humboldt.
