DES MOINES – Humboldt High Seniors Cyler Cirks and Tyce Clarken both placed 6th and sophomore Broedy Hendricks placed fourth after the consolation finals of the Class 2A boys' state wrestling tournament at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines on Saturday, Feb. 22. Cirks at 132 and Clarken at 138 both went 0-2 in their bouts Saturday morning. Hendricks went 1-1 to finish fourth at 190 pounds.

FRIDAY results
Cirks, 34-9, lost by fall in 5:09 to top-seeded Carter Cajthaml of New Hampton/Turkey Valley in the 132-pound semifinals. Clarken, 39-5, lost an 18-1 technical fall in 3:08 to top-seed Landen Davis of Eddyville-Blakesburg/Fremont, in their 138-pound semifinal match. Hendricks, 44-4, lost a 4-1 decision to Brenden Heying of Benton Community in the 190-pound semifinal. Cirks, Clarken and Hendricks will move into the consolation round Saturday morning where they will wrestle twice for third through sixth place on the awards podium.

DAY ONE/DAY TWO
Humboldt senior Cyler Cirks at 132 pounds, Tyce Clarken at 138 and Broedy Hendricks at 190 won their opening round matches to advance on the championship side. Senior Landon Halverson was sidelined at 175 pounds.

Cirks (34-8) and seeded No. 11, defeated Mason Avila of Decorah, 11-8 in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals on Friday, Cirks will face Carter Cajthaml of NHTV. On day one, Cirks won his first match by 19-0 technical fall over Jon Rasmussen of Audubon. Cirks followed with an impressive 10-3 victory over No. 6 seed Charlie Showalter of Hampton-Dumont-CAL.

Clarken (senior, 39-5), seeded No. 4 at 138, won 15-4 over Cadyn Wild of Davenport Assumption in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals on Friday, Clarken will face Landen Davis of Eddyville-Blakesburg. On opening day, Clarken drew a first round bye and then disposed of Perry senior Ben Kusar, by pin in 4:26.

Wildcat sophomore Broedy Hendricks (44-3), seeded No. 4, edged Decorah junior Thomas Sexton, 8-5 in sudden victory one. In Friday’s semifinal, Hendricks will meet Benton Community senior Brenden Heying. On opening day, Hendricks drew a first round bye and then pinned Caysen Curran (43-8) of Mount Vernon in 1:22.

Humboldt senior 175-pounder Landon Halverson, seeded No 15, won his consolation match with Austin Boege of Nevada, pinning Boege in 1:23. Halverson’s season came to an end in 4-2 loss to Dain Burkhart of Fairfield. On opening day, Halverson battled No. 18 seed Max Dalton of Woodward-Granger in the first round and was edged 4-3 in sudden victory 2.

Saturday's consolation around begins at 9 a.m. for all three classes. The championship matches are Saturday night after the awards ceremony and grand march at 5:15 p.m.
