ORANGE CITY – Jori Hajek has loved playing sports ever since she was old enough to throw a ball.

A multi-sport standout at Humboldt High School, Hajek excelled in basketball, softball, volleyball and track. At Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, she helped lead the Triton volleyball team to nationals both seasons and excelled on the softball diamond.

Now in her second and final year at Northwestern College in Orange City, Hajek is about to graduate with a degree in sports management and is playing a key role as an infielder for the Red Raider softball team after helping NWC reach the NAIA national championship last fall in volleyball.

“I really can’t believe that after all of these years, my days of playing are coming to a close. I know I am going to miss the aspect of competition and competing, but something that is keeping me going is the thought of coaching in the future,” Hajek said in a recent interview with the Independent.
