DENNIS A. STIRLING

Dennis A. Stirling passed away at his home in Humboldt, on the morning of Thursday, March 27, 2025. He was born in Carroll on June 22, 1944 to Theodore and Ruth Stirling. He grew up in Fort Dodge and graduated from St. Edmond High School in 1962. Dennis attended community college and AIB. He married Mary Lou McNally in 1964 and had five children.
Over the years he was employed at Potomac Ironworks, National Gypsum, and Voortman. During his retirement years, he drove a school bus for Humboldt Community Schools for high school sporting events.
On July 28, 1990, Dennis married Darlene Hotz in Humboldt. Together they enjoyed dancing, attending their grandchildrens’ activities, and family gatherings. They spent time traveling in their RV and spent winters in Arizona for many years where Dennis played senior softball. He was deeply loved by his family, who always knew they could count on him for unwavering support. He loved to tell stories, and his family will fondly remember the many tales he shared, filled with humor and heart. His greatest joy came from the time spent with those he cared about.
Dennis is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Darlene, sister Colleen (Lou) Picek, his daughters, Karen (Doug) Sandvig, Jean (Ken) Brock, and Ann (Keith) Bryhne, his sons, John (Elizabeth) Stirling, and Mike (Angie) Stirling, 13 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Dennis donated his body to the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine.
A Celebration of Life Mass is to be held at a future date. Memorials will be left to the discretion of the family.
