Orr has found a home in the steeplechase

Quinton Orr has found a home running the steeplechase.

Orr, a red-shirt junior on the Iowa State University men’s track team, last week ran a personal record in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the Stanford Invitational at Palo Alto, CA.

Orr, a 2021 Humboldt High School graduate, finished eighth with a personal best time of 8:39.90. His time is now seventh-place in Iowa State history.

“Our training last fall and over the winter has been really intense so I have been seeing some great strength and some great speed improvements. I’ve ran personal bests in every event over the last year,” Orr said in exclusive interview with the Independent over the weekend.

“Yes, I would say the steeple chase is definitely my event. I’ve made some big jumps in the event last year and now this year with more gains,” Orr said.
