Humboldt boys win Bunn Relays!

A victory in the final event of the night, the 4x400 relay, carried the Humboldt boys' track team to the team title of the annual Charlie Bunn Relays in Humboldt on Friday night, April 11.

Humboldt's Chase Flaherty passed Evan Allie of Algona on the final stretch to give Humboldt a two-second victory in the final race. The Wildcats finished first in 3:28.82 to 3:30.33 by Algona.

Humboldt totaled190 points to take top honors. Algona had 186 with Webster City third at 125. Boone was fourth with 83, followed by Eagle Grove with 68, Emmetsburg 52 and Clear Lake last with 11.

Humboldt's first place finishes include the following:
–Elliot Carlson in the long jump at 20-9.5.
–The sprint medley relay of Keegan Groat, Jackson Flaherty, Mason Van Pelt and Chase Flaherty in 1:36.37.
–Shuttle hurdle relay of Coen Matson, Jackson Dodd, Valley Davis and Keegan Groat in 1:02.75.
–Chase Flaherty in the 800-meters in 2:06.75.
–Mason Van Pelt in the 400-meter hurdles in 57.15 seconds.
–4x400 relay of Jackson Dodd, Mason Van Pelt, Elliot Carlson and Chase Flaherty in 3:28.33.

Humboldt runs next in the Fort Dodge Relays on Monday night, April 14. The Wildcats will compete at Adel on Thursday, April 17.
