NICOLA L. KUEHNAST

Nicola L. “Nicki” Kuehnast, 79, of Humboldt, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2025 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Nicki was born July 12, 1945 in Fort Dodge, the daughter of Clifford and Bettie (Huebsch) Nielsen. She grew up in Fort Dodge and graduated from St. Edmund’s High School in 1963. She went on to attend La James College and worked as a cosmetologist for numerous years. Nicki was united in marriage to Gary W. Kuehnast on Aug. 12, 1966 in Enid, OK. The couple made their home in Oklahoma and later Virginia near Langley Air Force Base while Gary served. They returned to Humboldt in 1971 and made their home on the family farm where they raised their family. Nicki was extremely creative, enjoyed crafting and quilting and could spend hours shopping for fabric. On their Gold Wing she and Gary rode over 70,000 miles and visited 36 states. They were members of the Iowa Gold Wing Association and were named the Iowa District GWRRA, Couple of the Year in 2016.
Nicki is survived by her husband of 58 years, Gary of Humboldt, her children, Eric (Christina) Kuehnast and Kristin Kuehnast both of Kansas City, her grandchildren, Briana and Brayden, her sisters, Deborah Cher and Susie (Mark) Fritz both of Fort Dodge and several nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Services were held on Saturday, April 12 at Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Visitation was held at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service, Humboldt. Burial was at Zion Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, due to her love for animals, memorials may be made to the Moffitt Animal Shelter in Humboldt. www.masonlindhart.com
