MARLENE E. PANDIL

Marlene Pandil, 91 of Humboldt, passed away Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025, at the Long Term Care Unit of the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital in Humboldt. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt. Inturnment will take place at Indian Mound Cemetery in Humboldt on May 6 at 10 a.m. Services have been entrusted to Lentz Funeral Home of Humboldt.

Marlene Emma Terwilliger was born on Dec. 26, 1933 in Corinth Township to Robert L. & Pearl (Gilliland) Terwilliger. She grew up in rural Humboldt County and attended Corinth #7 Country School through the 6th grade. She then attended and graduated from Gilmore City High School with the Class of 1952. Marlene was united in marriage to Roger Pandil in Sioux City, Nebraska in 1955. She was employed with Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. She then took a job with J.F. Anderson Lumber Company as their bookkeeper. From 1969 to 1979, she was employed as a full-time Office Deputy in the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department and then continued as a part-time clerk for an additional 12 years in that department. Marlene retired in 1998.
Marlene was a lifelong member of Faith United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and could never pass a crossword puzzle or crypto quote without picking up a pencil.
Marlene is survived by her sisters-in-law, Dorothy Abbas of Hampton and Marcia Terwilliger of Fort Dodge along with several nieces and nephews. Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers Robert Jr. and Roger Terwilliger, sisters Dorothea Cunningham, Betty Monson and Inez Schulze.
