Supervisors MOU meeting postponed

DAKOTA CITY - The Humboldt County Supervisors’ regular meeting was cut a bit short due to the last-minute cancellation of the joint meeting with Kossuth County.
The Supervisors had planned to collaborate with Kossuth County regarding work that needs to be done on land owned by a farmer that is in both counties.
The meeting was meant to firm up what is to be done next on this farmer’s land, as well as to establish an MOU (memorandum of understanding) for future repairs that need to be done, as was recently conducted with Wright County.
The Kossuth County Supervisors failed to join the meeting by Zoom or in person at the designated time, and efforts to reach them were unsuccessful. The matter was tabled until another time could be set up for the meeting.
Jeremy Jones with RWE Clean Energy, LLC, informed the supervisors that he and his coworker, Kevin Paloumpis, would be visiting with the Humboldt Public Library staff to help devise a fun event during the library’s story time. The event is meant to help children learn about renewable energy and how it affects their environment.
Jones will return to a future Supervisors meeting to discuss the plans they decide on.
Humboldt County Engineer Ben Loots presented two requests to work in the right-of-way, both in close proximity to each other.
The first was a request by Scott Manske with Manske Farm Drainage of Algona for Harold Trask to hook into the tile in the road ditch on States Avenue.
Loots told the supervisors, “This is the Sauder Farm northwest of Hardy on States Avenue. He is looking at pattern tiling the field and hooking into the intake that is located just inside the county's right-of-way.”
The second application was for Creek Enterprise of Hudson, to dig a small 6x4x5 foot pit to expose and repair broken locate wire in the 2700 mile of 140th Street in Livermore.
“I’m not so sure these two aren’t connected. It is on the north side of the Sauder farm where Manske is pattern tiling, so I’m wondering if someone caught a wire,” Loots said.
Both applications were approved. Loots also informed the supervisors that Secondary Roads crews are busy preparing the gravel roads for the companies that apply dust control products. Those companies plan to start applications in the next week or so.
