HUMBOLDT - A total of 114 students graduated from Humboldt High School during a commencement day ceremony inside the school gymnasium last Sunday, May 18.
Keegan Groat, Kaitlyn Nelson and Mason Van Pelt shared the honors as class valedictorian. Morgan Ma-yall was recognized as salutatorian.
Aubrey Blomker, Elsie Hubbell, Brogan Lennon-Meyer and Braden Vik were recognized as graduates of Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge.
Humboldt High School Principal Travis Sprague and assistant principal Jessica Goodenow both presided over the ceremony and the presentation of awards and diplomas. They were assisted by school superintendent Jim Murray, activities director Ryan O’Hern, board president Tate Satern, along with board members Dr. Bettie Burres Youngs and Shane Davis.
Following a long-standing school tradition, senior class president Elliot Carlson turned the leadership mantle over to next year’s senior class president, Joel Thurm. Both addressed the audience.
Keegan Groat and Mason Van Pelt were both selected to serve as student speakers.
“Today is a day of celebration, reflection and anticipation. We’ve reached the finish line of one journey and the starting line of the next,” Groat said.
