Wildcat baseball team divides pair at Hampton

The Humboldt baseball team moved to 8-3 overall, 4-2 in North Central Conference play after splitting a doubleheader at Hampton on Monday, June 2. The Wildcats won 8-3 and fell 4-3 against the Bulldogs.
Humboldt traveled to Clear Lake on May 27 and lost 2-1 in the opening game and won 6-3 in the second contest of a conference doubleheader with Clear Lake.
Isaiah Busick took the loss pitching in the first game after working five innings. He allowed five hits and two earned runs along with four walks. He struck out nine. Gabe Flatau threw one inning and allowed no runs or hits with two strikeouts and no walks.
In the second game Cyler Cirks earned the win pitching. He worked 4.1 innings. Chase Hansen (0.2 innings) and Ascher Gander (2) also pitched in relief for the Wildcats.
Humboldt hosted Newell-Fonda on Thursday, May 29, and posted a 3-2 victory. The Wildcats host Southeast Valley on Thursday, June 5. They play Sioux City East and Sioux City West in games at Fort Dodge's Rogers Park on Friday, June 6. The Wildcats will host Iowa Falls-Alden in a doubleheader on Monday, June 9. Humboldt visits Forest City on June 10.
