Jaxon Heinz finally etched his name in the George Lee Memorial Golf Tournament record books by winning the 74th annual event at Humboldt Country Club last Saturday, June 7.
Heinz shot a three-under-par 105 to claim his first tournament title. The former Humboldt High standout who has been a challenger in the tournament in recent years, won a three-hole sudden playoff to edge Scott Spiers of Grundy Center.
Heinz finished with rounds of 35-34-36 for a 69 total. Spiers, who won the tournament in 2023, shot 34-36-35 for a 69. To determine a winner, the pair were both tied after shooting on holes eight and nine. When they went back to hole eight, Heinz birdied to edge Spiers.
