Wildcat girls edge Forest City, 9-8

The Humboldt softball team moved their season record to 7-5 overall by edging the Forest City Indians, 9-8 in Forest City on June 19. Adalee Nolting pitched an eight-hitter for the Wildcats. Claire Dieleman and Elsie Hubbell both went 3-for-4 at the plate. Hubbell drove in five runs.

A four-run seventh inning lifted No. 7 (Class 1A) ranked Fort Dodge St. Edmond past Humboldt, 8-2 in a North Central Conference softball game in Humboldt on June 18. Humboldt slipped to 6-5 overall, 4-4 in NCC action.

Top Lynx in 8 innings, 7-5
In a classic Humboldt vs. Webster City softball game in Webster City on June 16, the Wildcats scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning en route to a 7-5 victory over the Lynx at Dave Hilton Field. The triumph improved the Wildcats' record to 6-4 overall, 4-3 in the North Central Conference. Humboldt pounded out 10 hits as Adalee Nolting went 3-for-4 at bat with two runs batted in. She also pitched all eight innings from the circle.

The Wildcats play in the Roland-Story tournament Friday and Saturday in Roland. Humboldt will host Algona in NCC action on Monday, June 23. It will be the Coaches vs Cancer Relay for Life fundraiser.
