WILLIAM L. DENCKLAU

William L. “Bill” Dencklau, 68, of Dakota City, passed away unexpectedly on Monday morning, June 2, 2025 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital in Humboldt.
Bill was born June 17, 1956 in Fort Dodge, the son of Leroy and Lois (Dencklau) Dencklau. He grew up on a farm near Thor and spent a good portion of his childhood in Vincent. He graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1974 and continued the family tradition of farming. Bill was united in marriage to Luann K. Wigans on Dec. 6, 1975 in Humboldt. The couple made their home on an acreage near Thor while he continued to farm and in 1986 moved to Dakota City. A farmer at heart, he enjoyed carpentry, even drywalling, worked for H & K Lumber in Duncombe while farming and later Gronbach Construction for a number of years. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and snowmobiles, restoring his 74’ Chevy Nova, was a Hawkeye fan but more importantly a Kansas City Chiefs fan. He was a man who lived to work, always diligent and there to lend a hand.
Bill is survived by his wife Luann of Dakota City, daughter Krista (Mike) Rose of Kansas City, MO; son Jamieson Dencklau of Humboldt; his grandchildren; Carter and Dani Rose, Ryah, Pax and Zaharah Dencklau and Tayeton Lohaus; his brothers, Jerry (Marian) Dencklau and Joel (Jan) Dencklau both of Thor and his sister Christine (Harry) Wood of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11 at Victory Church located on the grounds of the Humboldt County Historical Museum. Visitation was held Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service in Humboldt. Burial will be in Colfax Cemetery, near Vincent.
