Wildcats down Mason City, host regional opener July 10

The Humboldt softball team closed out their regular season at home on July 8 in a 7-4 victory over Mason City. Elsie Hubbell slugged two homers to power the Wildcats, who totaled 11 hits and improved to 14-13 overall

Humboldt turned back Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, 10-5 at Clarion on July 7. The victory moved Humboldt to 9-7 in conference play.

Humboldt edged Newell-Fonda, 7-6 in a non-conference game on the road on July 3.

Humboldt closed out North Central Conference play with a 9-6 victory at Hampton on July 2. The triumph improved Humboldt's record to 11-13 overall, 8-7 in conference play.

Elsie Hubbell pitched a one-hitter in a 1-0 victory over Pocahontas Area on Tuesday night, July 1.

Humboldt lost a makeup game at Clear Lake on July 1, 8-0. Humboldt dominated Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, 11-2 on June 30 in Humboldt.

Iowa Falls-Alden edged Humboldt, 6-5 in 8 innings on Friday night, June 27 in Iowa Falls.

Post-season tournament pairings are out and the Wildcats will host Garner-Hayfield/Ventura in a first round Class 3A Region 2 contest on Thursday, July 10, 7 p.m. The winner will face Eagle Grove or Clarion-Goldfield-Dows on July 12 at Eagle Grove in a regional semifinal. The other half of Region 2 has top-seed Williamsburg hosting Vinton-Shellsburg and Benton Community hosting Iowa Falls-Alden with a semifinal round game at Williamsburg on July 12. The regional final will be played on Tuesday, July 15, 7 p.m. at the site of the highest ranked remaining school. The state tournament is July 21-25 in Fort Dodge.
