Shirley Via, 96 of Bode, passed away Friday, Nov. 14, 2025, at the Humboldt Country Memorial Hospital in Humboldt. Funeral services for Shirley were held on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025, at Lentz Funeral Home in Humboldt with Rev. Joyce Schmidt officiating. Interment took place at Hardin Township Cemetery in Stratford. Services have been entrusted to Lentz Funeral Home of Humboldt. Online condolences may be left at www.lentzfuneralhome.com.
Shirley Leona Osborn Via was born Sept. 11, 1929, to William and Magalena (Kutchera) Osborn in Stratford. She has raised three sons: LeRoy, Donald (Kathy) and Howard Sundine and two daughters: Joann Sundine and Patty (Mark) McCullah. On June 28, 2003, Shirley was united in marriage to Jim Via at the park in Rolfe. The couple made their home in Bode. Shirley enjoyed sewing, gardening and canning.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband: Jim of Bode; sons: LeRoy “Butch” Sundine of Rolfe, Donald (Kathy) Sundine of Fort Dodge and Howard Sundine of Newell; daughter: Patty (Mark) McCullah of Laurens; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. Shirley is preceded in death by parents; eight half-brothers; four half-sisters; daughter: Joann Sundine and granddaughter: Chelsea Bair.
