Winter Weather Advisory issued for Humboldt and neighboring counties

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Humboldt and its neighboring counties, which goes into effect at noon today until midnight tonight.

The NWS is forecasting a wintry mix that will move into the state this morning and last through the evening, ending late tonight. A band of 2-3" of snow with a light glaze of ice is expected with temperatures dropping below freezing after sunset, increasing the chance of slick roads. Plan for slippery road conditions during the evening commute.

*WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations between 1 and 3 inches and ice accumulations around a light glaze.

* WHERE...Portions of northern, central, and east central Iowa.

* WHEN...From noon today to midnight CST tonight.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday evening commute.
