JEAN M. LARSON
Jean Larson, 72 of Livermore, passed away Sunday, Feb. 22, 2026, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Faith United Methodist Church in Livermore. Service will be lives streamed via Lentz Funeral Home’s website: https://www.hdezwebcast.com/show/jean-larson-memorial-service. A Celebration of Life will follow at Otto Field Post 415 in Livermore from 3 until 5 p.m. Services have been entrusted to Lentz Funeral Home of Livermore. Jean Marie Larson, the daughter of Dean and Phyllis (Cran) Zeman, was born on July 9, 1953 in Fort Dodge. She attended schools in Livermore and Bode, graduating with the class of 1971. After graduation, Jean furthered her education and enrolled in Upper Iowa University where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree. She was a graduate of the Defense Language Institute (French) at the Presidio of Monterey California. On Dec. 11, 1976, Jean was united in marriage to Steve Larson in Cresco. She spent 28 years as a proud Army wife, making homes for her growing family in Alaska, Indiana, Missouri, Tunisia, Ohio and finally in Iowa. Always ready for an adventure she horse-camped in the Chugach Mountains in Alaska, camped in the Atlas Mountains in Tunisia, rode camels in the Sahara Desert, cruised to Alaska and up the Danube. During those years, she was employed by the United States Government, the State of Missouri, Stoebe Law Office, the City of Livermore and Train Wreck Winery. Jean retired on October 1, 2023.
Jean was a member of Faith United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher, active on the Pastor/Parish Council and President of the United Women in Faith. For the last 12 years, Jean organized and conducted the Livermore Easter Egg Hunt. A high school and college basketball player, Jean loved coaching. For nine years Jean and Steve coached our local third-6th grade girls. She then was the assistant varsity coach at Twin River Valley High School, highlighted by a trip to the state high school tournament. Jean enjoyed trips to Lambeau Field to watch her beloved Packers. She cherished time with her grandkids, attending events until too ill to continue. Jean’s life was one of service to her family, friends and community.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 49 years: Steve of Livermore; children: Eric (Becky) Larson of Urbandale, Karen Clark of Livermore and Jeff (Shaunna) Larson of Granger; seven grandchildren: Dane Clark, Camden Clark, Hazel Clark, Eddie Larson, Charlotte Larson, Logan Larson and Kendra Larson; siblings: Barb (Larry) Abens of Jay, Oklahoma, Vern Zeman of Livermore and Brian Zeman of Urbandale; sister-in-law: Anne Zeman of Pinole, California and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Dean and Phyllis Zeman and siblings: Sharon Zeman and Ron Zeman.
Memorials will be directed to the Livermore Library and the American Legion Auxiliary.
