Ava Fischer, who etched her name in Humboldt girls' basketball history, was recently named first-team All-North Central Conference.

Teammate Jada VanDeWalle, a junior, was selected to the third-team. Fischer and VanDeWalle helped Humboldt compile a 9-13 overall won-loss record this past season. The Wildcats were 4-10 and fifth in the NCC standings.

Fischer was one of three unanimous first-team selections. She is joined by Clear Lake sophomore Jacelyn Ainley and Iowa Falls-Alden sophomore Elody England. Other first-team picks include Algona junior Hayden McLaughlin, Fort Dodge St. Edmond junior Chloe Palmer and Algona freshman Katie Limbaugh.

Second-team selections include Clear Lake senior Ashleigh Amble, Algona junior Bella Jo Dunning, Webster City sophomore Evie Davis, Iowa Falls-Alden junior Izzy Janssen, Hampton-Dumont-CAL sophomore MacKenzy Valley and St. Edmond freshman Eden Horn.

Joining VanDeWalle on the third-team: St. Edmond senior Anna Larsen, Clear Lake senior Alex Theiss, HDC junior Madison Heilskov, Algona junior Maya Lentz, IFA junior Dani Rieks and Clear Lake junior Taylor Schwenn.

Fischer, who sat out one game, averaged 18 points per game for the Wildcats. She became the state's seventh all-time 3-point field goal scorer with 284. She surpassed former West Des Moines Dowling, University of Iowa and current WNBA star Caitlyn Clark (283). VanDeWalle averaged 8.2 points and 3.3 rebounds per game.

Fischer holds Humboldt 3-point scoring records which include nine goals in a game and 80 for a season. She also has a career free throw percentage record. Fischer was also named all district in Class 3A by the Iowa Coaches Association and will play in the senior all-star game on March 28 in Des Moines.
