Wildcat girls 3rd in indoor home opener

The Humboldt girls' track team put together a strong performance to place third at their own indoor opener in Humboldt on Thursday, March 19, inside the Nielsen Family Fieldhouse at the Humboldt Recreation Center.

The Wildcats finished with 81.5 points. Class 1A power Sioux Central of Sioux Rapids won with 91 points. Forest City was second at 86. Clear Lake had 78 points for fourth and Algona was fifth with 72. Pocahontas Area (27), Manson-Northwest Webster (25.5), Southeast Valley (24) and Bishop Garrigan of Algona (19) round out the scoring.

Humboldt placed had 10 top four finishes. Freshman Callie Olsen was second in the high jump at 4-8. Aubry Fisher was second in the 1,500-meters (5:18.10) with twin sister Avery Fisher third at 5:21.40.

The shuttle hurdle relay was second in 43.64. It was comprised of Claire Dieleman, Alivia Goodell, Jorjie Tinken and Kate Sievers. Humboldt was second in the 4x800 relay in 11:10.19. Macey Rodgers, Brayleigh Angstrom, Aubry Fisher and Avery Fisher carried the baton.

The 1,600-meter distance medley relay was third in 4:35.78. Payton Elman, Brooklyn Sernett, Kate Sievers and Brynn Malo comprised the relay.

Alivia Goodell was fourth in the 60-meter hurdles in 10.92 seconds. Claire Dieleman was fifth in the 400-meters in 1:10. Malo ran the 800 in 2:33.31 to place third. Sernett was fourth in the 200-meters in 29.41. The 4x400 relay of Elman, Sievers, Olivia Illg and Thompson finished third in 4:42.39.
