ROBERT L. CONNOR

Robert “Bob” Connor, 89 of Livermore, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2026, at his home. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on June 27, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Victory Church located at the Humboldt County Historical Museum Church. The inurnment will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. A visitation for Bob will be held on Friday, June 26, from 4 until 6 p.m. at Lentz Funeral Home in Livermore. Services have been entrusted to Lentz Funeral Home of Livermore. Online condolences may be left at www.lentzfuneralhome.com.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Moffitt Animal Shelter in Humboldt or the “Victory Church Building Fund” for the Victory Church in Humboldt.
Robert L. (Bob) Connor was born on Nov. 7, 1936 in Dayton, OH. At the age of three months, he was adopted into a Christian home by Henry Edwin and Mary Edith (Fish) Connor. At the age of 6 years, this little family moved to Albuquerque, NM.
He graduated from Hiland High School in May of 1955. Following high school, Bob attended the University of New Mexico for a year before transferring to Friends Bible College
in Havilland, KS. Later in life he attended Westmar College and also received his Seminary Training at St. Paul’s Seminary in Kansas City, MO.
During his younger years, Bob worked for J.C. Penney. F.W. Woolworth, Sara Coventry Jewelry and for 10 years for Kmart in Des Moines.
Bob married Barbara Jean Sullivan on June 6, 1961 in Colorado Springs, CO. To this marriage were born two daughters, Loralee and Cindilee and a son, Robert Lee Jr. In 1966, the family moved to Des Moines, where they lived until 1977, when Bob entered full time ministry with the United Methodist Church.
While serving in Swea City, Bob met and married Patricia I. (Patti) Fisher on Aug. 23, 1997.
Bob served the churches at Pisgah, Little Sioux, Mondaim, Libertyville, Batavia, Davenport, Swea City, Aredale, Bristow, Dumont, Lu Verne and Livermore, all in Iowa. He served as Director of Golden Valley United Methodist Camp. He also served as interim Pastor at Mason City, Lime Springs, Chester, Fredericksburg and Williamstown and as the visitation pastor in Hampton.
Bob retired from active ministry in July of 2001. In July 2004, however, he was appointed to churches in Lu Verne and Livermore before retiring for the last time in 2006. Bob
and Patti moved to their retirement home in Livermore in the spring of 2006.
In the fall of 2009, Bob was elected as Mayor of Livermore and was sworn in as Mayor in January 2010. He served as Mayor until December of 2015.
Bob was a member of the United Methodist Church and the International Lions Club.
He enjoyed sports, on TV or in person. He also enjoyed music, especially Southern Gospel Quartets. During his college years, he sang in the college choirs.
While Bob did not have any grandchildren, he enjoyed the babies and little ones of his congregations. Special to Bob were Kaitlyn Meyer and her 5 year old daughter, River.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Barb Sullivan, Merle Marnin (honorary father), and Tron Saftner (honorary son).
Bob is survived by his children, Loralee Daniels (husband, Lane) of Houston, TX, Cindilee Connor of Fairmont, MN, and Robert Lee Connor, Jr (partner, John Draeger) of Janesville, WI. He is also survived by his honorary mother, Alice Marnin of Des Moines, as well as numerous friends.
