Humboldt advances 10 entries to state track!

The Humboldt girls' and boys' track teams combined for six automatic qualifiers, 10 overall, for the upcoming state championships after competing in a Class 3A qualifying meet in Clear Lake on Thursday, May 14.
The girls placed third in the team scoring while the boys were sixth.
Aubry Fisher finished first in the 3,000-meters in 11:04.51 and Avery Fisher was second in 11:04.79 to earn a spot at the state meet. Wildcat senior Brynn Malo was runner-up in the 800-meters in 2:31.39 to advance to state. Aubry Fisher was also second in the 1,500-meters in 5:07.04 to advance. Humboldt's 4x800 relay advanced with a time of 10:22.09 in taking third. The relay consisted of Payton Elman, Claire Dieleman, Kate Sievers and Brynn Malo.
The boys' shuttle hurdle relay of Brady Roth, Griffin Groat, Luke DeWinter and Valley Davis finished second in 1:01.39 to earn a trip to state. Wildcat senior Jack Guy was second in the shot put at 55-10 to punch a ticket to state. Jackson Flaherty was third in the 200-meters with a time of 22.74, good enough to advance to state.
Humboldt's 800 and 1,600-meter medley relays placed third and both advance to state. The 800- finished with a season's best time of 1:33.97 and was made up of Griffin Groat, Valley Davis, Jackson Flaherty and Chase Flaherty. The 1,600-meter medley finished in 3:39.37 and is comprised of Jackson Flaherty, Brayden Dahl, Valley Davis and Chase Flaherty.
Class 3A state meet action begins on Thursday, May 21, 2:40 p.m. at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.
