KATHRYN L. PARSONS

Kathryn “Katie” LaVonne Parsons, 103, of Ankeny, formerly of Humboldt, passed away at her home at Mill Pond in Ankeny on Friday, Sept. 25, 2026.
Kathryn LaVonne Parsons was born July 17, 1923 in Humboldt. She was the fifth daughter of Louis and Alma (Rollins) Shockley. On Nov. 27, 1940, Kathryn was united in marriage to Paul William Parsons in Humboldt and the couple raised their two children while farming for 45 years on the family century homestead.
Katie worked as the office manager for Jet Company and was a member of the American Kennel Club, breeding and competing at the championship level. Katie was deeply involved in the Humboldt County Historical Association, serving as president and charter member, as well as Humboldt County representative for the Iowa Tourism Board. She also served with the Iowa Local Historical and Museum Association as the Northwest Iowa Director.
Following retirement, Katie and her husband Paul moved to Arnolds Park, later Spencer, Fort Dodge and finally Ankeny. Katie loved to collect antiques, crochet and read. She and Paul enjoyed square dancing and traveled many miles in their motor home to Alaska, Nova Scotia and various dance conventions, all while wintering in Mission, TX.
Survivors include her children: William (Barbara) Parsons of Newport, WA and Linda (Jim) Wagoner of Longwood, FL, her grandchildren; Belinda (William) Wayland of Newport, WA and their children, Kayla (Brendan) Coon and Cody (Jennica Hall) Warner; Bill (Michelle) Parsons of Meridian, ID and their children, Grace, Peyton and Kelly; Erin Wagoner, John Wagoner and his daughter, Jade. Katie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul in 2014, sisters; Beth Triplett, Vivian Nesvold, Ethyle McGrath, Geraldine Lockwood and great-grandson, Dylan Warner.
Graveside Services were held on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at Indian Mound Cemetery in Humboldt. A reception followed at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Humboldt. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service is in charge of the arrangements. www.masonlindhart.com
