LINDA K. COON

Linda K. Coon, 60 of Humboldt, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2026 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Linda Kay Coon was born Dec. 3, 1965 in Clarion, the daughter of Jerry and Joan (Dagget) Murphy. She grew up on a farm near Clarion and attended Clarion-Goldfield Schools. The family later moved to Clarion and Linda graduated from Clarion High School in 1984. She attended Iowa Central Community College and later obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from Iowa State University in Child & Family Services with a minor in Early Child Development. She was united in marriage to Cliff R. Coon on Nov. 10, 2006 in Humboldt. Linda taught preschool in Eagle Grove, Goldfield and later Renwick, was a daycare provider for many years in her home and worked as a counselor for BHIS until 2020. She spent her life protecting, guiding and caring for children, both through her daycare and her work as a counselor. She was privileged to develop lasting friendships with many of her students over the years. Linda enjoyed watching Christmas Hallmark movies and fall was her favorite season, decorating for her family in orange and yellows.
She is survived by her husband, Cliff of Humboldt, her children; Karlez Coon (Cassie Newman) of Thor, Bailey (Israel) Lopez Vicario of Renwick, Devon (Isabel) Coon of Fort Collins, CO, Jordan Coon (Lydia Anderson) of Boone, Lance Coon of Ankeny and Madeline Shaw (Logan Crouse) of Fort Dodge, her grandchildren; Victoria Lopez, Nico Lopez, Mateo Lopez and Kamari Coon, Novaleigh Stokes and Patrick Stokes, her sisters, Diane (Steve) Hennigar of Clarion, Michele (Brian) Leininger of Lenexa, KS and her brother Bob (Elizabeth) Murphy of Clarion. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Mike.
Funeral Services were held on Saturday, Oct. 17 at Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery, Renwick. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service of Humboldt is in charge of the arrangements.
