Amanda Schmidt, new superintendent of Gilmore City-Bradgate schools, brings a wealth of experience into the district.
Schmidt, who is also superintendent of the West Bend-Mallard School District, assumed her additional duties back on July 1. Schmidt takes over for Jeff Herzberg, who retired from administration and is now back to teaching and coaching in the Des Moines Public School system.
“GC-B is a great school district and Mr. Herzberg really had things set up well when I took over in July,” Schmidt said.
“We have a lot of activities for the students to do. We have a great staff here to work with. They are very creative. We have our student-led garden and we raise honey with honey bees. It has been a really great experience for me coming on board,” Schmidt said.
“The school daycare is running at full capacity and parents are bringing their kids here. It has been going well,” Schmidt said.
