Malo wins title at Iowa Falls in CC opener

Brynn Malo was the overall individual champion to lead the Humboldt girls' cross country team to a runner-up finish in the Iowa Falls-Alden Invitational on Aug. 28 at Mayne's Grove Conservation facility.
Malo finished with a time of 20:03.9 to lead Humboldt's girls, who totaled 73 points. Clear Lake won with 64 points. Humboldt's Aubry Fisher was third in 20:51.6 and Avery Fisher fourth in 20:51.8. Macey Rodgers was 21st in 23:16. Elsie Statesman was 46th in 25:35.
Humboldt's boys placed seventh with 181 points. Dike New-Hartford was the team champion with 75.
Henry Kramer led the Wildcat boys with a third-place finish in 18:23.8. Obed Antonio was 41st in 21:22.2, Carson Chambers 51st in 21:48.9 and Isaac Fowler 52nd in 21:49.9. Miles Zeman ran 62nd in 22:21.4. Graham Baker was 71st in 22:44.2.
Humboldt returns to action in the Webster City Invitational on Sept. 2 at Links Golf Course.
