Webster City spoiled Humboldt's North Central Conference basketball opener in the Wildcat gym on Thursday night by turning back Humboldt, 62-54.
The Wildcats, 1-1 overall, 0-1 in the NCC, were led in scoring by Ava Fischer's 22 points. Landry Lash netted 10 points and Jada VanDeWalle added eight. Evie Davis led the Lynx with 18 points.
Humboldt forged out to a 7-2 lead to start the game but the Lynx battled back to take the lead and held a 31-23 advantage at halftime. Webster City answered a pair of Humboldt rallies in the second half.
Humboldt returns to action at Fort Dodge on Monday, Dec. 8. The Wildcats host Newell-Fonda on Dec. 9 and visit Clarion on Dec. 12.
