Wildcat boys hold off Dodgers, girls fall

Jackson Flaherty scored 15 points to lead the Humboldt boys' basketball team past Fort Dodge, 37-30 in a non-conference game in the Fort Dodge gym on Monday night, Dec. 8. The triumph improved the Wildcats' record to 2-0 on the season. Fort Dodge slipped to 1-3 on the young season.
Fort Dodge made a string of free throws in the final two minutes to pull away to a 44-37 victory over the Humboldt girls' basketball team Monday night (Dec. 8) in a non-conference game played in Fort Dodge.
LJ Maehl scored 23 points to lead the Dodgers, who moved to 2-3 on the season. Ava Fischer scored 16 to pace Humboldt, which fell to 1-2 on the season. Fischer was backed by Landry Lash with 10 points. Payton Elman and Jada VanDeWalle each had four. Kaleigh Vinsand added two and Brayleigh Angstrom chipped in with one.
Humboldt will host Newell-Fonda in non-conference play on Tuesday, Dec. 9. The Wildcats visit Clarion on Friday, Dec. 12.
